CELIA WOODSMITH & FRIENDS
Celia Woodsmith is a GRAMMY Nominated performer and songwriter. The daughter of the Vermont based writer and poet Sybil Smith she is heavily influenced by artists like John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, Patsy Cline and Mahalia Jackson. Over twelve years of touring Celia has molded her own style and has been hailed as having a “one of a kind voice: gritty, muscular, folksy and intimate sometimes all at once” **Bluegrass Situation
Celia has shared stages with the likes of Taj Mahal, Leon Russel, Janis Joplin’s Big Brother and the Holding Company and Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls.
Since 2007 she has released seven albums of original music playing with Boston based Avi & Celia, “washbaord rock and roll” outfit Hey Mama and eventually Nashville based Della Mae. In 2013 Della Mae won IBMA’s Emerging Artist of the Year and in 2014 they were nominated for a Best Bluegrass Album GRAMMY for their record “This World Oft Can Be”. Della Mae has toured over 200 days a year for four years in over 35 countries playing almost entirely original material. Celia is currently playing solo shows all over the Northeast and also performs regularly with “Woodsmith & Hersch” a Boston based vintage electric outfit
