Maine Middle Eastern Ensemble performs folk, classical and art music from the Turkish, Arabic, Armenian and Greek traditions. Led by multi-instrumentalist, Eric LaPerna, a professor of the Applied Music Faculty at Bowdoin College, the group also features violinist, Michael Gallant; guitarist, Jeremey Zela; and percussionists, Doug Andrews and Dorothy Barker, as well as other musicians from Maine’s vibrant Middle Eastern music community.
